Challenges they need to address:
– transport of a material that is “leakier” than other gases (tiny molecule)
– conversion to H2-appropriate plumbing that is less vulnerable to embrittlement
– flammability (watch those eyebrows!)
I’d like to know the cost-effectiveness of converting Ye Olde diesel-electric locomotives to HFC-electric, since AIUI electric motors are best for cross-country rail. They’d also have the easier transition to providing limited, rail-adjacent fueling infrastructures.
