GM Debuts Hummer EV

They didn’t spare much expense on this.
Definitely went out of their way to make sure this EV had no hint of unmanliness.

Believe that is Lebron James voice over?

  1. Let’s hope this sells really well. We need to get macho guys really into electric vehicles asap.

  2. Well, that didn’t take long – the entire first year production volume was just reserved by potential buyers in one hour.

  3. “Simulated vehicle shown throughout.”

I love all of those faintcy off-road features that will never be used by urban conspicuous consumers.

  4. WOW! Quite a vehicle, and maybe some day it will help make a difference. For now it’s an overpriced toy for rich boys with small penises—-that’s why it has torque and horsepower and 0-60 times more appropriate to a race car.

Beautifully done video clip also, although I didn’t see a charging station anywhere in that wilderness that most of it was filmed in. Remember too that range is misleading—-300 miles is really only 150, because you have to get back to your starting point if there isn’t a charging station within 300 miles of your first “fillup”

      1. Rich guys with large penises buy Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches—-the girls would rather ride around in them than in an overblown truck.

        1. Who’s talking about rich guys with large penises? Not me. What are you thinking about – we’re all friends here. You can tell us. Share! 🙂

  5. My goodness. I think I just grew an extra pair of testicles just by watching this. Thanks GM!

The perfect toy for Charles Koch and other climate change deniers to soothe their conscience and put on a soft green edge to attract lady friends. But anything that moves us closer to EV fleet is a step in the right direction, even if it is consumerism gone Mad Max. I wonder how the EV Hummer compares to Tesla’s EV pickup truck?

… but given the tons of cash they must have spent on this ad., I have to quibble…
Why have the autodrive passing vehicle scenario take place with a rather threatening blind-curve ahead? I don’t think this beast has radar to detect oncoming cars. All I could think was “I’m not putting my life at danger of a high-speed head-on collision by putting this thing on autopilot to pass with an oncoming blind curve.”

    1. “I wonder how the EV Hummer compares to Tesla’s EV pickup truck?”

It’s much more expensive with less range, not made of stainless steel, and has a much shorter pickup box, for starters. Payload, towing capacity has not yet been revealed.

But…. it comes with GM’s Ultium battery system. And there is no denying that “Ultium” sounds a LOT like the word “ultimate”.

OTOH, it is more luxurious and looks like a traditional off-road machine. It’s probably a good vehicle. When it finally arrives, we’ll know.

    2. Meh. Perfectly safe if you operate according to the disclaimer.
The disclaimer said something to the effect that he autopilot-passing trick works only on compatible roads.
By which I think it means computer-simulated roads and simulated vehicles.
      So perfectly safe.
