You’ve got the title of this post backwards—it should read Racism, Ignorance, and Climate Denial Behind Puerto Rico Suffering if you want to start with the most important factor and work down.
Puerto Rico is a sign of Trump’s cruel neglect. Separating children from their parents and caging them is a sign of an actively cruel policy. Losing track of them is a sign of Trump’s complete incompetence.
So many Trump programs and policies are of the fiasco level of ATF’s brainless “Fast and Furious” program. For every blunder that occurred under the Obama administration, at least a dozen have happened under Trump.
Tangent: Puerto Rico, an island which has to ship in all of its fuel, is an ideal candidate for both wind/solar generation and EVs. In 2009 a massive tank farm explosion occurred while a ship was offloading gasoline.
Ho-hum……this thread is apparently dying after only one day. That seems to be the case with every thread that mentions RACISM (and by extension xenophobia, misogyny, and homophobia). Are Crockers deniers in this area? Do they refuse to accept that this country was built on racism? That the subjugation and exploitation of “inferior races” and their homelands by the European colonial powers was where runaway capitalism began? That the climate crisis was brought on by that runaway capitalism? That we can talk ourselves blue in the behind about the science, but that politics, economics, psychology, and the failings of the human species (like racism) is where the solutions to CAGW exist?
I participate in other blogs that discuss racism, incels, social justice, xenophobia, religious fundamentalism, misogyny, homophobia, child sex abuse, the Liar-in-Chief, etc. I come here when I’m done with them.
You can never be done with those things or escape them by coming here. They are all part of the hugely complicated web of human behavior and history that underlies AGW. It’s one thing for the evil ones to abuse other human beings one-by-one or in groups, but a far more serious problem if they destroy the biosphere and all humans good and bad.
What I mean is that after I finish reading the dozen or so daily “culture war” blog posts and participate in their comment sections, if I have time in my online day then I move on to this blog or sciencebasedmedicine.org for more technical interests.

Isn’t Puerto Rico one of those Mexican countries?
I’m not sure —-it’s hard to keep track of what the Rump says. Maybe it’s one of those s**thole countries? It’s for sure not Norway.

Not super relevant, but well worth watching.
