In Response to Climate Emergency: TaunTauns, Seahorses and Manure

“The solution to climate change is not this unserious resolution…the solution to so many of our problems at all times and in all places is to fall in love, get married, and have some kids.” – on and ‘s Green New Deal

  1. AOC’s response to Senator A-hole Lee and others. Keep after her, Repugs—-she is smarter and a better American than any of you, and will put you down every time.

Never heard of Lee—-he is a far right nut job who was born with a bit of Repugnant silver spoon in his mouth. And he’s a lawyer—-figures.

  2. Beneath the outrageous wrong-headedness of that as a climate change solution, and the infuriating belittlement of climate change as an issue, underlies a deep sexism. He’s essentially telling Ocasio-Cortez, “Listen, little lady, if you just got married and had kids you wouldn’t be worrying your pretty little head about all this global warming nonsense.”

I have tendency to try and look at things as they might be perceived by future generations. This Mike Lee performance, to me, is a whopper. He might as well be handing future generations a giant turd with a note reading, “With love and kisses.”

  3. Someone needs to tell him not to give up his day job. He is not going to make it as a stand-up comedian.

Oh, and his keeper needs to make sure that he takes his medicine.

I wonder if Senator Lee has the slightest idea of how that weird performance will play outside the USA? The USA is something of a laughing stock, albeit a terrifying one, to the rest of the world (See Trump, D.J.) and this is going to help convince the rest of the world that the US Govt is totally loony.

This point, by the way, is something that always amazes me. US politicians never seem to realize that something said, presumably for domestic consumption, will be being viewed analysed and dissected in Berlin or Cairo or Tokyo or Moscow just as fast as, in Mr Lee’s case, in Las Vegas.

    Jesus wept.

  4. Ye Gods – this is exactly the male chauvinistic attitude, encountered in the industry I worked in during the 1970’s/80’s in the U.K – “woman’s place is in the kitchen (and bedroom) looking after the breadwinner’s needs and whims”. Unfortunately that otherwise productive industry faded away completely into obscurity, unable to compete in the challenging, modern world.

Don’t let your country do the same, by taking any notice of these old prehistoric farts.

Feeling overwhelmed by the existential challenge of climate change? You’re not alone

  5. Side note. Greta has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Great and hardly a surprise.

    1. I think that’s truly great, but I’m sure she would much rather see some rapid, urgent and solid action from the world leaders and populations.
