Killing Clean: Weather Channel Explores The War on Clean Energy

If you’re pressed for time, go to 5:50 to get a good look at what the Koch Brother’s war on clean energy looks and sounds like.

Kait Parker kills it in this examination of Big Fossil’s guerrilla war against renewable energy.

    1. I love the cartoon, precisely because I know how much it burns deniers to be shown how stupid they are.
I’m just not a nice person, I guess.

  1. Here we are: After the 2016 solar boom, the industry lost 9,800 jobs between 2016 and 2017—the first drop ever recorded in the National Solar Jobs Census since it started collecting data in 2010. The Trump administration’s talk of solar tariffs and policy changes contributed to the drop, the report said.

    Meanwhile => Europe’s Offshore Wind Capacity Grew a Stunning 25% in 2017

This Tramp is making the US and A so great… Just google for the Financial Times article: “US trade deficit grows 12.1% in Trump’s first year”

  2. Worthwhile reading this article by Harvey Feigenbaum, a political economist and Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at the George Washington University => History, Tax Cuts And Trump

… Indeed, the origins of the Trump phenomenon seem eerily similar to what lay behind the rise of authoritarianism in 1930s Europe, and to more recent politics. Yet American populism has its own roots, deeply embedded in its racist past and its peculiar institutions. This, of course, is not reassuring, but understanding the past is always instructive. …

  3. When the poor are no longer forced to subsidize the rich this happens:

Data from Hong Kong´s Transport Department shows Tesla sales fell to just 32 between April and December 2017, a dramatic decline from the near 2,000 sales notched up over the same period of 2016.

A closely analogous situation is happening for Wind&Solar.

The world needs cheep and abundant energy…especially the poor.

        1. China has over 30 EV manufacturers so what is the figure for EV sales in total

perhaps the most under-reported weather and climate change related story of the Winter of 2018 is the return of drought. Presently, more of the Continental U.S. is under drought conditions than not. And we are now experiencing, as a nation, the largest drought footprint in four years.

This is notable due to the fact that four years ago — 2014 — the U.S. west was experiencing one of the worst droughts in its history with California in the grips of a six year long extreme drought period. In other words, it would take both widespread and intense drought conditions to begin to compare to the 2014 drought situation either in extent or intensity.

Drought Across U.S. Reaches Highest Levels Since 2014

Eastern cold snaps offset by warm West to boost temperatures
Drought covers more than one-third of lower 48 states
Drought, which has left winter wheat struggling across the Great Plains, expanded to cover 38.4 percent of the contiguous U.S., the most since May 2014. Only 14 percent of Kansas wheat was rated in good or excellent condition at the end of the month, the lowest for that time since 2006, according to an earlier U.S. Department of Agriculture report.

Meanwhile South Africa has its drought concerns with Cape Town could have it’s water cut off within a couple of months.

Drought famine or floods and destroyed crops are increasing – Fossil fuels and especially the evil demons that try to destroy alternatives

    1. https://cleantechnica.com/2018/02/02/delivery-drones-prove-worth-third-world-will-rest-world-follow/

How much fuel and pollution is saved by electric drone deliveries, especially where infrastructure is poor? It’s actually happening in parts of Africa that critical needs are being met.by drones. The advantages of drones with wings is that they are less prone to fail in bad weather and can travel further, and faster, which is perfect for the vast sparsely populated areas of Africa.

Tanzania’s Medical Stores Department expects that all 5,640 public health facilities in the country will have all the essential medical supplies delivered by drone service, however remote their locations.

It is quite astonishing to realize that this is actually working, right now. Keller Rinaudo, CEO and co-founder of Zipline, puts it this way: “They’re not trying to catch up to US infrastructure. They’re just leapfrogging roads and trucks and motorcycles and going to a new type of infrastructure.”

      Ron baby
The Developing world is just leapfrogging you US stuck in the mud dinosaurs. Lie manipulate deceive to your hearts content, the poor cannot afford the massive infrastructure costs and time to build that which you weirdly fantasise they can, maybe pay some politicians big graft and some tokens will happen.

All your coal/gas/oil/diesel generators etc needs copious quantities of water which is increasingly short supply , plus massive expensive distribution networks with massive quantities of Copper or Aluminium for conductors – just not realistic

Electric short haul planes are in operation NOW, there are Arial EV taxi’s now, based on Drones – really cool . Just what will be needed and used in developing countries rather than spending huge Dollars building roads and bridges, maybe railways with EV Loco’s for the truly heavy loads.

Those Developing Nations are going to be streets ahead of the US and you will be their clients or servants because you dumbed down the American People and sacrificed your future for the benefit of some rich fat cats sucking on the fossil fuel teat
