  1. LMAO! It does this old Marine’s heart a lot of good to see that people around the world are finally using the language that has made the USMC so successful and that no Marine can live without. If you absolutely, positively need to get people to listen (or destroy something overnight), you MUST use the F-word. The only proper response is “OOH-Rah, Semoer Fi, and F**King A”

  2. Oooops—-the keys are moving around again, and of all things, on “Semper Fi”. My old DI’s would have stroked out over that. Sorry.

        1. Still looks like a rather obvious false equivalency to me, dear. You must try much harder to justify your delusions, and citing facts rather than spouting mindless beliefs would help your case.

And it’s just so cute and lovable that you came up with “Both SPELL catasrophe (sic)”, to say nothing of ironic. LMAO!

          1. Because you never commit typos, perhaps? What is your insane obsession with me and your impulse to insult me at every turn about, anyways, sicko?

          2. It figures…..understanding irony is another “deficit area” for you (and I DO admit to a mild obsession with your insanity)

    1. Excellent, excellent piece Having been born in 1940 and being a history buff, there’s not much new to me in this piece, but it definitely should be required reading for the younger folks, especially those millennials who are not going to vote for Hillary and thereby choke off all chances at the new New Deal this country needs so badly.

It reminds me of Walter Prescott Webb’s excellent book, The Great Plains, in which he made the case that barbed wire was key to the westward expansion in this country. I referenced it heavily when I wrote a senior thesis in HS in the 50’s titled “Barbed Wire and the Windmill—-How They Made America Great” or something close to that.

(I am right now getting my electricity through a rural electric cooperative inn NO VA, just 30 miles from the White House, with excellent service and low rates, both far better than from Dominion, the sorry for-profit provider in the area. Thank you, FDR)

      1. Having been born in 1940…

And although the events that brought Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler to renewed prominence was before your time I figure you would have heard of him and how he unravelled the plot to turn 1930s USA fascist. I don’t often link to Wiki but that will do for now I hope.

I also wonder if you have come across Professor Carroll Quigley who has plenty to say in ‘Tragedy & Hope” and “The Anglo-American Establishment’ amongst other books.

There was a piece in BBC2 Series The Conspiracy Files (have some salt handy for the input of some like Roger Stone) that showed how Trump raised his political career on conspiracy theories including that of Obama’s birth certificate.

This episode ‘The Trump Dossier’ is available by iPlayer not sure how that works outside of the UK. Here is a an article on it: Conspiracy Files: The Trump Dossier, BBC Two.

  3. Nicholas Stern has provided an update after 10 years.

Yet the world is still burning more and more fossil fuel and pumping more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This has both long- and short-term consequences. “Apart from raising carbon levels and temperatures, burning fossil fuels causes air pollution, as we have learned over the past five years,” says Stern. “The consequences are terrible. Air pollution kills more than 30,000 people a year in Britain. That is about one in 2,000 of the population. It has become one of the very big killers around the world. In China, it causes about 4,000 deaths a day.

“We are killing millions every year from air pollution produced by burning fossil fuels. Yes, there are other sources of air pollution but burning fossil fuels is a large part of the story. That understanding is new and very important.”

The deniers and their supporters including the supposed born again Christians are in reality mass murderers

    1. Stern’s 2006 Review was 700 pages long and a bit of a slog, even though it was far more readable than most tomes on economics. It’s not a real surprise that things have not gotten any better—-the deniers, the powers-that-be, and the folks who are getting rich from fossil fuels have managed to keep the lid on the ever more rapidly boiling pot.

Perhaps the situation in New Delhi will reach SHTF level and get someone’s attention.
