Switzer is also a climate change denier par excellence, and a hard-line rightwinger. The paper he’s writing in is cut from much the same cloth.
Switzer’s column is unfortunately “available only to subscribers”—-the snippets I was able to read before it shut down made me think that Switzer should perhaps concern himself more with the “comprehension and awareness levels” of the voters in AUS rather than speak about this country from his “perspective” at the U.S. Studies Centre. From my “perspective”, it would appear that AUS has as many, if not more, “voter problems” than we do, and although it may not pay as much, writing about them might just prove more helpful in staving off the looming disasters down under..
Trump excelled at only one thing in the debate—-showing what an absolute PIG of a human being he is, and how utterly unqualified he is to be president. The sooner the “pundits” stop trying to find anything good to say about Trump to keep themselves employed in the talkfest, and stop beating up on Hillary because they are closet sexists and simply can’t stand the idea of a woman president, the sooner sanity will appear in the discussion of this election.
Trump gets his energy and climate policy literally from watching Fox News – that’s where he learned to be a ‘Republican’ so he could run on the R’s ticket.
If we let China develop the 21st century’s energy technology, that puts us at a competitive disadvantage.
It’s a difficult marriage between science and politics. Personally I trust & prefer science by far. We must remember that in a democracy politicians are voted in power to represent us. They are payed by us, they work for us. We must let them know what “us” wants in no uncertain terms. The National Geographic “Before The Flood” film release is very timely.
