I’ve posted on this before. It’s not going away.
A 14-year-old boy from Texas died Sunday after contracting a brain-eating amoeba that thrives in warm freshwater.
Michael Riley, from Houston, went swimming with his school track team at Sam Houston State Park in mid-August, his family said in a statement on a Facebook page. After suffering from meningitis-like symptoms, Riley was taken to the hospital where doctors later confirmed it was a case of Naegleria fowleri.
Commonly found in warm freshwater such as lakes, ponds and hot springs, humans are infected by the deadly organisms when water containing the amoeba travels through the nose and migrates to the brain, destroying the tissue.
High temperatures in the summer months elevate the risk of coming into contact with the brain-eating amoeba.

Cases of Naegleria fowleri are rare but deadly. After initial symptoms such as headaches, vomiting and fever, the disease progresses rapidly and in most cases causes death within three to 18 days, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Not to trivialize the death of poor Michael Riley—sympathies to his family—-but weren’t some Republican conventions back in the 80’s held in Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans?—-all places where Republicans may have gone swimming during breaks and been infected with brain-eating ‘meebers (preferred suth’run pronunciation). That would explain a lot.
Studies show that warming temperatures set off tempers and increase a tendency to violence. Add in brain-eating organisms, and you got yourself a hit TV show. All I’m sayin’..

We’ve already got a TV show about folks whose brains have been at least damaged, if not yet fully “eaten”—-it’s called C-SPAN.
But you’re right, a hybrid of The Sopranos, House of Cards, and the Walking Dead probably would be a hit, with CSI tracking down the culprit in the lakes. It should be set in one of those hot muggy places that “set off tempers and increase violence” as well as harbor the brain-eating critters. Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans some to mind, and wherever Strom Inhofe lived when the ‘meebers got into his brain.
