Florida State Employee Speaks Up after Being Ordered to Get Psych Exam for saying “Climate Change”

Catch 23.

To speak up about climate change in Rick Scott’s Florida, you’d have to be crazy.

Right?

  1. We live in a country where you are almost not allowed to talk about climate change AT ALL with your friends, family, co-workers, or anyone for that matter, because they will immediately shut you down and ostracize you. Which is why we resort to talking about it on Internet blogs instead.

The next logical step in that process is to institutionalize it, and start labeling anyone who DOES talk about it as mentally unstable, isn’t it? Florida just did it first.

    1. Well said, but they are not “shutting down and ostracizing” as strongly anymore. Cracks are forming in their cognitive dissonance as the scientific truths pile up. I made a fair amount of headway this winter with some real boneheads by using Boston and pointing out that what happened there and what has been happening in the Northeast for the last few years is exactly what was predicted under AGW. Melting Arctic Sea Ice is something else that gets their attention, and the disturbing news about the Antarctic glaciers makes them frown. Some of them have actually asked questions!!!! As soon as CA runs out of water and they can’t get vegetables, they will listen even more.

(And before they try to institutionalize ME, they’re going to have to get past my guns. I will send some of them to the place where the climate is very very hot first! How’s that for “mentally unstable”? LOL)

      1. I think part of the reason Americans are so disconnected from the issue is that it hasn’t hit our grocery stores. We are a rich country, and we can import food when the crops fail here, which basically masks the most serious consequences from us. The minute the shelves start to empty is the minute Americans start to believe the science.

  2. Y’all don’t understand,

He was just directed to rectivy his thoughtcrime by rewriting fullwise upsub antefiling.

    He just had to crimestop.

    Glossary:

rectify: Used by the Ministry of Truth as a euphemism for the deliberate alteration of the past.

upsub: submit to higher authority. In one scene in the novel, Winston Smith is instructed to alter a document to conform with the Party line, and submit it to his superiors before filing it: rewrite fullwise upsub antefiling.

crimestop: to rid oneself of unwanted thoughts, i.e., thoughts that interfere with the ideology of the Party. This way, a person avoids committing thoughtcrime.
