The new video series, “Climate Change: The Elevator Pitch”, has gotten some pretty good uptake, and I’m going to continue to bring them out on a regular basis for some time.
The newest installment features Glaciologist Eric Rignot, who is succinct, passionate, and on point.
The interview was one of a couple dozen we did at the American Geophysical Union Fall meeting in December, which make up the foundation of Skeptical Science blog’s MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) – Making Sense of Climate Denial.
One other previous excerpt from our interview with Rignot, which a lot of folks have found as quietly terrifying as I did, has also been widely shared.

Excellent clear and precise short statement, a lot said in just over 2 minutes and for an ice sheet specialist to say that biodiversity and species decay is among the worst effects is truly alarming. I agree with his words and that our best hope lies with the present young generation, the older one has made a terrible mess, confusion and conflict over the situation.
And poll results published in today’s Business Green, confirms there is hope if we look to our young to take the baton:
The poll, commissioned by a group of more than 100 NGOs, including Greenpeace, Oxfam and Cafod, revealed 77 per cent of 18 to 24 year-olds who plan to vote Conservative are “very or fairly” concerned about climate change, compared to just 46 per cent of Conservative voters 65 and older.
