All In, All Inhofe

Jim Inhofe, on the strength of this week’s election, will take over the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
Chris Hayes discusses above.

Inhofe is 80.
I hope all readers will join me in wishing him long life, with as many brain cells firing as necessary to comprehend, perhaps in a decade or so, what a terrible legacy he is leaving. Hopefully, enough time for him to comprehend how he’ll be viewed by his grandchildren, and the next 10,000 generations of grandchildren.

Below, a little bit of Inhofe history, from the Crock of the Week series.

  1. I .. I can’t do it.

    I ..can’t … wish … Inhofe …a ..long .. life.

What I do wish Inhofe is an epiphany. A waking up to reality somehow.

A wish that he changes totally his views on a great many things. Then acts accordingly.

I hope for this but do not expect it and dread what may be coming.

    1. F#ck him. He has my permission to drop dead right now.

He’s 80 years old, has done very nicely for himself, has been well-rewarded by his fossil fuel corporate masters, has lived high off the government tit for decades and was willing to turn a blind eye to the abuses at Abu Ghraib, being one of only NINE senators who voted against the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005.

Most of the people who live in countries that will be most devastated by climate change will never live so long nor do half as well.

Inhofe isn’t likely to live long enough to see the onset of the really bad years and I don’t feel the need for him to stick around that long.
He can shuffle off this mortal coil RTFN, with my blessing.

  2. Ignoring Omno and going back OT.

Guys like Inhofe are the reason the 17th. Amendment was passed. He is exactly the kind of wholly-owned-by-special-interests senator the 17th. was meant to eliminate.

He hasn’t got enough functional brain cells to ever comprehend his “legacy”, but we CAN hope that his being in the driver’s seat will help to run the denial bandwagon into the ditch sooner.

      1. We’re all ears, Omno. Enlighten us as to the meaning of OT in Omno-land, where so many words don’t mean what they mean elsewhere on the planet.

          1. Don’t need to google it —-in this context it means either Off Topic or On topic, and those of us that understand Englhsh understand that. Why don’t you?

          2. OT only means on – topic in your twisted mind . For a man obsessed with seeing trolls everywhere, that’s a massive fail. Let’s stop at this as your innumerable defects are definitely OT.

        1. Lighten up on Mauri; he’s a bit sensitive about “OT” because he always intended to copyright it to mean “Omnological Truth” and then he could sign all his pronouncements as “OT”, his personal equivalent of QED.

Not sure if that bit of insight is OT or not, in any of its possible meanings 🙂

  3. “how he’ll be viewed by his grandchildren, and the next 10,000 generations of grandchildren.”

IMHO In about 10-15 generations, his grandchildren will be too busy to reflect on what could have been done differently to prevent this from happening.

    Best,

    D

    1. Actually, since a generation is 20-25 years, it’s likely that they will be cussing out Inhofe in only two or three generations, certainly no more than 5.

    1. “We don’t have a left & right party, we have a center-right party and a CRAZY party. …..Over the last 30-odd years, the Democrats have moved to the right, and the Right has moved into a mental hospital….. become a collection of religious nuts, flat earthers and Civil War re-enactors, who call themselves the Republicans” – Bill Maher, Jun 2009

    1. Heh heh.
So many people didn’t get Leper Messiah’s joke though.

It’s a bit unfair though – contrary to popular perception the percentage of stupid people is a constant throughout all classes and subcultures of society and in all countries.
There are just as large a percentage of idiots in The Senate or lecturing in Universities as there are in the proverbial hillbilly town.
Inhofe and Australia’s PM Tony Abbott are perfect illustrations of this.
