Pat Robertson may be a stalwart denier of climate change, but today on “The 700 Club” the televangelist conceded that climate change did occur in biblical times, and that’s why humans no longer live to be 950 years old like Noah, or make it to 969 like Noah’s grandfather Methuselah.
“Apparently, after the Flood there wasn’t as much moisture in the air, there weren’t as many bacteria, microbes and things like that and maybe the climate was such that salts on our bodies weren’t as severe,” he said. “But after the Flood, God said the years of a man is going to be 120 years.”
Anyone who literally believes anyone in the bible lived for 969 years is a religious kook. It is more likely that Methuselah lived 969 lunar months (~ 80 years). Why? Many ancient societies living closer to the equator ignored the sun in favor of the moon and so used lunar calendars. And wouldn’t “969 years” conflict with Psalm 90:10 where we read: “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet their strength labor and sorrow” { Since “one score = 20” then “three score and ten = 70” while “four score = 80” }
Pat Robertson the man who brought us ‘Regent University’ thus inflicting generations of narrow minded bigots on the US with influence felt across the globe.

I am not a fan of Pat Robertson and never thought I would ever defend the man. But in all fairness there is an error in this article which I feel may have caused some inappropriate responses. At approx 0:39 in the video he says “assaults on our bodies” not “salts on our bodies” as written in the Right Wing Watch article. And then he rather sanely continues with a reasonable discussion of a well accepted approach for living to and old age. In the words of (I think) Monty Python “rather surprising really”.

Morin Moss may be saying that lacking midichlorians means that one would be unable to tap into The Force, and therefore would have no way of living 900 years (although I don’t see why flood-induced climate change would wipe out the midichlorians). (How do we get off into these weird corners?)
