Shell struck out here in 2013 and 2014, but just won’t stop trying. Just like Exxon-Mobil and BP—-who are in joint ventures with the Russians to drill in the arctic waters and in Siberia for shale oil and gas (the Siberian shale deposits are huge).
There is money to be made in drilling for gas and oil in the arctic, and isn’t that what it’s all about?

It will take a decade or more to bring these oil fields on line, but as long as it’s economically viable, I expect this to continue.
