Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California has long been known as a crank climate denialist, but you may wonder – is it just an act to please a constituency, or are climate deniers really THAT stupid?

I’ve seen this Category 5 moron on TV for far too long. Left unchecked, he and his cronies will cause more damage than Katrina.
It pains me to no end that he’s probably the most well-known Dana from California. He’s from Southern California though – practically a planet of its own!
You shall know them by how far they are willing to bend over for their REAL constiuants – and by whiich committees they are on.
Dana Rohrabacher – House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology (senior member) has repeatedly claimed that climate science is a “total fraud” perpetrated by radical environmentalists and world-government proponents.
Joe Barton – House Energy & Commerce Committee (chairman) claimed Noah’s flood was an example of climate change
John “corporate titans are my friends” Shimkus – House Energy & Commerce Committee (senior member) claimed that a theological argument could be made that the atmosphere was carbon starved

It’s a sad statement that the only country whose citizens have planted their feet on alien soil, has elected these cretins of high office.
This is a judgment against the democracy of the ignorati, something Churchill likely had in mind when he said that it was the worst form of government save for all the others that had already been tried.
Despise them we may but despise ourselves also we must ( did that sound like something Yoda would say?? ) because its the citizenry who must be held responsible.
No matter what you think of them, they didn’t inherit their positions but were chosen by the will of the people – and that’s a damn shame.

Dana, he may be the most well-known Dana from California in some parts of the world, but I’d never heard of him until today. Rather disappointed that I have now heard of him, to be honest. What I found interesting about the video with Richard Alley was how he was reluctant to be certain and spoke in a manner consistent with scientific uncertainty. Patrick Michaels, on the other hand, regularly said “we know”.
Rohrabacher must have a massive Tea Party population in his district, as California has gone to a deep, deep Blue.
For the state that spawned Ronald Reagan’s political rise, Democrat Presidential candidates no longer even bother to campaign there, but just drop by to pick up the cheques from contributors.
It is an indicator of where the GOP is heading USA-wide, but try telling that to bullheads like this one. If they will not listen to Barry Bickmore or Kerry Emanuel, both registered Republicans, who will they listen to?
BTW, California has just published a report on Climate Change. Another irony.

The chance of humanity surviving the next few centuries is remarkably slim. Idiots like this will see that thin sliver of hope disappear completely.
We have this false belief that the wealthy countries will survive best after our industrial civilization collapses. But, we are so used to getting everything delivered. Do many of us even know how to grow our own food? Has any one here prepared an animal for eating? Do you know how to make a nail?
Our feet are so soft from decades in shoes, could we walk forty miles a day without footwear? We are so used to hunting our food in the supermarket, would we even recognize food in the wild?
When the ships stop, it will be those “savages” in the remote parts of the world that will cope best. The man who made his own bow from what was available locally will be the one who knows how to replace it.
All civilizations collapse, as will ours. We are seeing diminishing returns on everything, let alone one thing. If you have read Tainter a good sign that collapse is not far away.
I wouldn’t be so pessimistic. Our primitive ancestors (barely) survived very, very bad times and so will we.
But, like them, our numbers will likely be drastically reduced.
When push comes to shove, the urge to survive is strong. Yes, we will probably revert to that time, not so long ago, when life was described as nasty, brutish and short.
But survive we will. If not pleasantly.
An idiot is someone who knows better but still acts stupid. An ignoramus is someone who doesn’t know better and is too prideful and/or stupid to learn to act differently. I think the jury is still out on which applies in this case.
