Tens of thousands of protesters block roads to protest construction of coal power plants.
This is not unrelated to the Keystone protests we have seen in America. Look for more of this as the planet’s population continues to wake up to the realities of climate change.

The BBC News 24 channel has recently been re-screening a July 2011 piece about China’s Energy policy by Justin Rowlatt. This may not be available online anymore, so please see my Blog for a summary. However, suffice it to say that although Justin highlights much that is good, he also admits (right at the end) that China has no plans to reduce its emissions or stop burning coal within less than 20 years… It is therefore very encouraging to hear that the Chinese population both realises that this is environmentally unacceptable and is brave enough to say so.
There may yet be hope for us that do not live in a police state.
