You Know it’s Dry when the Camels Start Dying

This video was made in mid-summer, and asserts that the la nina that exacerbates this drought is over.

We now know that la nina has returned for  a deadly double dip.

    1. A question. Is it required by internet protocol or etiquette that this “reblogged this on…” message be posted on the original site? Or is it a way of advertising the existence of the other site and hoping that people will come visit?

I’m wearing the letters off my delete key.

  1. “You know it’s dry when the camels start dying” is one of your better headlines (and among the most disturbing). El Nino—La Nina—and even more Who the ‘El Knows? We are in uncharted territory here, and Africa, parts of South America, and particularly Australia face very uncertain futures water-wise (not to mention CA and the American SW).

PS Although camels are not as endearing as the dogs and cats in the ASPCA and Humane Society commercials, they are far more significant to the lives of the humans who depend on them for so much. Susy Soccer Mom in the U.S. can always go down to the shelter and pick up someone else’s castoff “companion”, but these villagers in Africa are really hurting (to say nothing of the fact that their crops are in trouble as well). This is why we are not likely to see the 4 billion Africans or 11 billion humans worldwide that Rosling posits in his “Don’t Panic” fluff piece. And of course, this is good news for the Repugnants—if all the Africans die over there, they won’t be trying to immigrate here, climb over our border walls, and do all those awful things that immigrants do. In that respect, the impacts of AGW can be considered to be a “preemptive strike” to ensure the survival of the American Way of Life for the REAL ‘Muricans. And no “boots on the ground” are needed! And the plutocracy gets richer selling the fossil fuels that drive AGW! It’s a wonderful world! (for the 1%).
