Fox News: Where Climate Lies are Official Policy

Bill Sammon, the Washington managing editor and vice president of Fox News, has dictated the groundrules for reporters covering issues of climate change. As Media Matters notes, Sammon broadcast an email outlining ideological parameters for climate reporting – a mere 15 minutes after Fox News correspondent Wendell Goler reported from Copenhagen that the World Meteorological Organization found the last decade is “expected to turn out to be the warmest decade on record”, conflicting with Fox’s preferred “Climate Gate” narrative. Goler noted that temperature data from primary research groups across the planet are consistent, and show similar warming trends.

Potholer on the Newest Climate Denialist’s Crock

Potholer54 is over on the other side of the pond doing basically what I’m trying to do on YouTube, offer sane, balanced, well documented, reasonable, and hopefully entertaining antidotes to the horrific tide of denialist ignorance and garbage on the internet.

I’m glad Potholer had the time to take this one on- it’s a recent variant of the “CO2 is Plant Food Crock”.

Knocking down denialist myths is like shooting fish in a barrel, but there are so many barrels, and so little time.  Potholer’s description and sources after the jump.

Bill Gates: Getting it on Climate

For your denialist uncle, you can point out that very non tree-huggery, hard headed and successful capitalists are now getting it on climate change.
After dithering for some years on the edge of the issue, Bill Gates has finally gotten it, and jumped in to the climate debate with both feet. The rub is that he might have a little too much faith in some kind of magical technofix, whereas many thinkers believe we already have all the technology we need to make the transition, or at least get a long way down the road.
If you’re looking at carbon sequestration, and nuclear, as he does, you might indeed need a miracle.
Important to get it that we don’t need to wait for a magic bullet.
More in his recent interview in Rolling Stone.

I, for One, Welcome our New Gelatinous Overlords

Science magazine reports that Chinese scientists are fighting the invasion and impending takeover of the Yellow Sea by blooms of enormous jellyfish.
Over recent decades, jelly fish populations have soared in several corners of the global oceans, fueled by pollution, fertilizers, low oxygen zones, and global warming.
