  1. “I know we can turn it around…”

Really? First of all, the masses have to know where they are in the pecking order. Noam Chomsky is helpful in this regard. Here’s a current headline:

Chomsky: Corporations and the Richest Americans Viscerally Oppose Common Good:

“The Masters of Mankind want us to become the ‘stupid nation,’ in the interests of their short-term gain — damn the consequences.”

Ray again. Of particular salience to this blog is the following passage about the attack on science by ALEC regarding climate science education:

“Sometimes the attacks on education and on the Common Good are very closely linked. One current illustration is the “Environmental Literacy Improvement Act” that is being proposed to legislatures by ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange Council, a corporate-funded lobby that designs legislation to serve the needs of the corporate sector and extreme wealth. This act mandates “balanced” teaching of climate science in K-12 classrooms.”

  2. Good music! Don’t see that many left handed slide players. Appreciate the link.

As far as the climate goes, the chances of turning it around are now approaching zero. With Obama determined to channel Neville Chamberlain on climate, any decisive action is at least 4 years off, and then it will almost certainly be too late, particularly with CO2 emissions growing like they are. We’ll have to change Gordon Lightfoot’s “10 Degrees and Colder” song to “+12 Degrees and Hotter.” Canada’s looking better all the time. Wonder how long it will be before Canada has the illegal immigrant problem.
